Starlink
Starlink is a satellite internet service that provides high-speed broadband access to anywhere on the planet.
Starlink is operated by SpaceX, an American aerospace company owned by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Starlink, once installed, provides satellite-based internet broadband services to most of the earth, and was available in the UK from January 2021.
As of January 2025, there are 6912 Starlink satellites in orbit, with 6874 of them working.

The Dishy
The Starlink Dish, also known as Dishy McFlatface, is a state-of-the-art, self-orienting satellite antenna designed to provide high-speed, low-latency internet access.
It features a phased-array design, allowing it to dynamically adjust its position for optimal satellite connectivity. The dish is weather-resistant, capable of operating in extreme temperatures, heavy rain, and snow.
The standard Starlink dish is larger and provides superior performance, making it ideal for homes and businesses. Meanwhile, the Starlink Mini is a smaller, more portable version, perfect for travelers, RVs, and remote work. Both dishes are easy to set up, requiring only a clear view of the sky to establish a strong connection to the Starlink satellite network.

Wifi mesh
A home mesh network is a wireless network that uses multiple devices to create a single network that covers an entire home, eliminating dead zones. It's made up of a main router and one or more satellite nodes that work together to provide full WiFi coverage. Connected devices can move between nodes without interruption, even while streaming.
Using a Deco mesh system with Starlink enhances your home’s Wi-Fi coverage, especially in larger spaces or areas with weak signals. The mesh network extends the Wi-Fi range by using multiple Deco units, ensuring a seamless connection throughout your home. As you move around, your devices will automatically connect to the closest Deco unit without signal drops. This setup ensures stronger and more consistent coverage compared to relying solely on Starlink’s router, which may not reach all areas effectively.
Additionally, a Deco mesh system provides faster speeds, improved performance for multiple devices, and features like Quality of Service (QoS) to prioritize activities like gaming or streaming. With built-in security features such as antivirus protection and parental controls, it offers more control over your network compared to Starlink’s default setup. The easy-to-use Deco app makes network management simple, while the scalability of the system allows you to expand your Wi-Fi network as needed by adding more Deco units. Overall, combining Deco with Starlink delivers a more reliable and feature-rich internet experience.
Mounting Types
Starlink offers several mounting options to ensure optimal performance based on your location and installation needs. The right mount depends on your environment, available space, and obstructions like trees or buildings.
Each mounting type is designed to maximize Starlink’s performance by ensuring the dish has a clear view of the sky, free from obstructions that could interfere with connectivity.
